The Roadside Christmas Tree - Misquamicut, Rhode Island
For 25
years I have made a Christmas morning pilgrimage to watch the sun rise at
Misquamicut Beach, a practice started by my friend Lorraine, and which I have
since maintained. On the way back from the beach, I add decorations to a tree
along the side of the road. We did not start that tradition, someone else did.
Only once in all those years haveI gotten to
the tree before the other mystery decorator.The trip is
a chance to pay respect to loved ones who have passed on, reflect upon the year
past and ponder on what might be in store for the future
